COLOMBIA TRAVEL BUDGET COST

Colombia is a cheap country to visit, and you will not spend that much of your travel budget here. I stayed there for more than 2 months and spent the same amount that I did in Europe for 3 weeks. My top expenses were accommodation, food, and party (I know right? Party here is really good! ).

HOW DID I CUTBACK ON EXPENSES?

I stayed in an apartment in Medellin with a German friend and we shared the rental cost. Aside from that, we were cooking our own food most of the time so it helped us save a lot of money. And also, tap water in both Medellin and Bogota are potable, which also helped in cutting back on expenses. Lastly, I got a Civica card, which gave me discounts on some of the public transportation in the city.

So there you have it! This is the exact breakdown of my trip to Colombia. I tried to live there as a local so I did not do much touristy stuff.

You need to increase your budget if you plan to visit coastal cities such as Cartagena, Barranquilla, and Santa Marta because the cost of living there is more expensive. And also, certain activities such as Paragliding in San Felix, attending a Spanish or Salsa class, and joining a Ciudad Perdida tour will also take a toll on your budget, so keep that in mind when you plan your travel budget here.
